Into the Unknown
Well here I am in Prague right now, supposedly one of the pretiest
cities in Europe, and well I would have to agree that it is very
pretty, but picking one city to call the "prettiest" would be like
asking me to tell you who the nicest people I met while I was in
Europe are.
Well I left you all while I was in Lubeck, and from there I headed to
Geizno (SP?) the heart of Poland, where the city stood as the Medevil
Capital before being moved to Krakow some time later. There I met up
with a my friend Agata, who I met in Paris. It was nice staying there,
I got too see a real Polish party and it was just pretty laid back in
general.
I then headed to Warsaw, where I met up with Maude once again. We
spent a few days there and made a trip to Treblinka (SP?) the former
extermination camp, nothing left there really except some stone
monuments. Really a good job on the representation. Getting back to
Warsaw from the camp was an interesting story concerning some
Romainians and a very full car.
We then took the night train to Krakow, which was actually completely
unplanned and only came to this after not getting back to Warsaw until
a tad late. The morning we made it to Krakow, on our way to our
hostel, we got to meet some tarif enforcement agents. It was nice, but
convieniently my ATM card had stopped working and I had to wait for my
mom to wire me some money. They took all the money in my wallet which
consisted of much more Euros than Zloty (Polish currency) and was by
far the most expensive public transport ride I have ever had. The rest
of Krakow was fine, with a trip to Aushwitz and a few other touisty
events.
And then the night train to Prague. It's great down here, definately a
pretty neat city, and a good bit of things to do. And on top of it
all, it is cheap. Which for me has always been a major plus.
Well everything to this point was written in Prauge, now I am in
Berlin. And our plane tickets are in Lübeck... So Maude is on a very
late train back to her old haunts and I am here in Berlin tying up
loose ends before our flight into Kazakhstan tomorrow. We leave at
about 5:50PM and get into Moscow at around 9:00PM Then we stay
overnight in the airport until out plane to Kazakhstan at about
10:00AM
Once in Almaty (the former capital of Kazakhstan) We will attempt to
find a bus or train that will get us over the Chinese border by
midnight on the 20th... that is when my visa will expire.
Once in China we don't know really what we will be doing but it will
be fun no matter what. So best or worst, keep all of your fingers
crossed for us!
